Learn about our vision, mission, and commitment to serving the Hindu community in Sutton
Sanatan Hindu Cultural Society (SHCS) is a local community group formed by and for the people of Hindu beliefs in the Sutton and neighbouring areas.
There are estimated 8,000 Hindu people living in Sutton and neighbouring areas with no common platform/place for performing worship, prayer, cultural and religious functions. In order to fulfil this cultural & religious requirement, Sanatan Hindu Cultural Society (SHCS) was formed.
To promote the principles and common understandings of the 'Sanatan Hindu Dharma' among the members and society.
Four key priorities guiding our work in the community
To provide a common platform for the people of Hindu beliefs in the Sutton and neighbouring areas for performing prayer, worship and cultural & religious functions.
To provide guidance and facilities for religious functions and performing of all religious rites connected with births, marriages and deaths.
To create awareness about Global Warming and encouraging people to achieve goals set by UK government to achieve Zero net carbon emission.
Help newly arriving Hindus in the area to integrate with the wider British society.
Specific goals we work towards every day
To facilitate discussions on concepts of Hinduism as per various schools of Hindu philosophy and the prime values of the Hindu way of life.
To organise Yoga, Sports and Meditation workshops for physical and mental wellbeing.
To organise charitable events for fund raising towards natural calamities around the world and support local charities of similar cause.
To create Environmental awareness and effects of the Global Warming by holding info workshops and seminars.
