SHCS's Rang Barse Holi Event Paints Manor Park with Vibrancy

On March 24th, the vibrant hues of Holi filled the air in Manor Park as the Sutton Hindu Cultural Society (SHCS) hosted their annual Rang Barse event. Drawing a crowd of over 1000 people from Sutton and beyond, the festival transformed the park into a kaleidoscope of joy and celebration.

The event, which has become a much-anticipated tradition in the community, offered an array of activities and attractions to mark the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. Attendees were treated to pulsating DJ music and the rhythmic beats of the dhol, creating an infectious atmosphere of merriment and camaraderie.

Of course, no Holi celebration would be complete without the iconic throwing of colors, and Rang Barse did not disappoint. Attendees were provided with unlimited colors to play with, resulting in a riot of hues that painted Manor Park in a kaleidoscope of colors. SHCS Ravan Dahan Event in Sutton, a Spectacular Triumph of Culture and Unity

On the evening of October 24th, Rose Hill Park in Sutton became the epicenter of an extraordinary celebration as the Sutton Hindu Cultural Society (SHCS) hosted a vibrant and culturally rich Ravan Dahan event. With an attendance of approximately 5,000 enthusiastic participants, this event was nothing short of a resounding success. The event brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate the victory of good over evil in the most grand and joyous manner.

The highlight of the evening was, of course, the symbolic burning of a colossal 25-foot high Ravan effigy. The effigy was meticulously crafted and served as a striking centerpiece for the event. On 23rd February 2021, Sanatan Hindu Cultural Society (SHCS) delivered 70 food boxes to our local heroes:

  • COVID ward at the St. Helier Hospital: The COVID ward is at the forefront of battle against the virus.
  • Sutton Night Watch Charity: 'The Light In The Shadows', for the homeless people in Sutton.
  • Sutton Police: Who are battling relentlessly to keep our neighbourhood safer.

This charitable initiative demonstrated SHCS's commitment to supporting the local community during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. By providing nutritious meals to frontline workers and vulnerable members of the community, SHCS showed that the spirit of seva (selfless service) remains strong even during difficult times.

The food boxes contained a variety of nutritious meals prepared with care and delivered with gratitude to those who have been working tirelessly to keep our community safe and healthy.
